anterior cervical discectomy

In late March, I developed some shooting pain across my back, through my left shoulder blade and down my left arm. After ruling out a heart attack, I set out on about a week long investigation into the cause. After my MRI, I was referred to Arthur I. Kobrine, MD, a well-known area neurosurgeon. I was diagnosed with herniated C5-C6 and C6-C7 disks. Dr. Kobrine suggested an anterior cervical discectomy and was able to schedule it for two days later. He replaced the disks with some bone from a local "bone bank" and then fused three vertebrae together with some titanium. You can see three of the five screws in this xray, which was taken 6 weeks post surgery.
