Cherry Blossoms

For the past seven years or so, I've made a "tradition" of sorts of organizing my colleagues at work to walk among the cherry trees down at the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC on a beautiful day when the blossoms are at their peak. If tourists from all over the globe come to DC this time of year to see the blossoms, it would be a shame to live here and not enjoy them.
Some years we pick a day that is better than others and this year we managed to pick the best day. Yesterday, Tuesday, April 2nd, was a fabulous DC spring day, with temperatures around 70 degrees, beautiful sunshine, and a nice breeze. Although I was hoping for a crowd of at least six, only Judy and Mercedes were able to join me. We had a great time.
Our office is about a 30 minute walk from the Tidal Basin. Once there, we were greeted with this view.
